I am building an onboarding service for a Mexican financial institution and require a reliable CURP API for real-time identity verification. The CURP (Clave Única de Registro de Población) is a critical data point — without a valid CURP, we cannot proceed with KYC or credit scoring.

Our technical requirements are as follows:

  • Protocol: RESTful API with JSON responses (no SOAP, no screen scraping)
  • Response time: Under 2 seconds at the 95th percentile
  • Sandbox: Full test environment with synthetic CURP test cases
  • Data compliance: Provider must operate under LFPDPPP and ideally have ISO 27001
  • Error handling: Clear HTTP status codes and structured error objects for invalid or not-found CURPs

I have evaluated a few CURP API providers but encountered inconsistencies — some return stale data, others do not correctly handle the 18-character format or reject edge cases like foreign-born residents registered in RENAPO. Our volume will be approximately 10,000 CURP validations per day at peak onboarding periods, so rate limits and SLA guarantees are equally important.

Has anyone deployed a CURP API in a regulated fintech environment and can recommend a provider that meets these criteria? Any comparison with RFC API providers that also offer bundled identity lookups would be appreciated as well.

We use a CURP API sourced through apipull.com API Hub — good uptime, REST JSON, proper sandbox with synthetic test CURPs. Response times stay under 1.5s consistently. For bundled CURP + RFC, a couple of providers there offer combined identity plans worth evaluating.
