I've been googling "nss validation mexico" and getting conflicting information about what's actually available. Can someone clarify: is there an official IMSS API for validating NSS numbers, or is everything third-party?

And what exactly does NSS validation Mexico check — just that the number is well-formed, or does it actually verify the person is registered in IMSS?

No official IMSS REST API for NSS validation Mexico — only third-party providers. Good ones do both: format check (11-digit Luhn) + IMSS registry existence check. Some also return basic enrollment status.
